Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated

According to IANS Live, Kargil Vijay Diwas is being celebrated on July 26, 2025, to commemorate the brave Indian soldiers who fought against Pakistan in the Kargil War in 1999. The war lasted for 60 days and saw the Indian army retake control of several strategic locations from Pakistani forces. Many Indian soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice during the war, and their bravery and sacrifice are being remembered and honored on this day. A special ceremony is being held at the Dras War Memorial in Jammu and Kashmir to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers. The Indian government has also announced that the Kargil War would be re-told through a series of short films to be screened in schools and colleges across India.
